Top 6.5 Joomla SEO Tips for Google, Bing, Yahoo
Joomla! is a very powerful , yet flexible CMS . You can do wonders with it, as long as you know how to get the leverage out of it. SEO is an important step, which needs to be taken by all the Joomla website owners and webmasters, but before you go for that, there are few steps, which can really make you ready for the future plans. Here are few Joomla SEO Tips and Tricks :
How to search engine optimize your Joomla website in 6.5 easy steps.
1) Don't install any sample data when you set up a Joomla! site.
When you launch your Joomla! Site, it's very easy to forget to delete all the demo articles that come with it. That will give you pages, links and newsfeeds that are irrelevant to your topic. Delete your sample data and don't forget to empty your trash as well!
2) Turn your Cache on.
Search in Google and you'll see a size for each site. Smaller, faster sites are more popular with visitors and with Google. One easy way to make your site act small and load faster is to turn on your cache in Global Configuration.

3) Enter full descriptions for your categories.
Joomla has a great system for organizing your content into categories. If you organize your categories carefully, your site becomes very easy for both people and search-engine spiders to navigate.
4) Less is more.
Having thousands of Joomla! pages indexed in Google isn't always a good thing, especially if those pages don't bring value. Some components, for example, can produce lots of extra pages that are completely worthless. One easy way to check if your site is putting garbage on Google is to search for site:mydomain.com. If you find pages that don't have good content, you might want to remove them.
5) Page title tag is important.
Take time creating your title tags – this is the tag Google takes most notice of so include your main keywords if possible. The Title tag is what shows up in the search engines as clickable headlines for your page.
Make sure the title tag includes at least your main keyword. I also believe that most websites can omit the name of the site itself from the title. It's in the URL anyway and will dillute the uniqueness of the title.
6) Add unique relevant metadata in each article
Joomla allows for each article to have it's own discription and keywords. Take the time to use this to add relevant keywords and a discription of what the article is about. Do not sabotage yourself by copy and pasting the same keywords and discription into every article. Free or low cost Joomla extensions are available to help manage your metadata.
6.5) SEO is a process.
Remember SEO is a process it takes practice, patience and education. So learn all you can and try it. Word of caution. No company can ever guarantee #1 placement. If you want to use a company that promises you will be #1. My advice.... Run.
